Word of God in Pictures…

…before it gets better :(

We have finally got planning permission to have the kerb dropped outside our house, something we have been trying to obtain, on and off, for a number of years. Unfortunately we do not have rear vehicle access to our house and since we live on a busy road, there is no street parking either. We gave up our car a some time back when we lost our rented garage; the land was bought by developers, along with six 1950s three-bedroomed semi-detached houses plus a terrace of three, three-bedroomed houses ~ all family-sized homes with their attendant gardens.

It was really upsetting to see the destruction of these houses ~ houses exactly the same as our own. A number of mature trees were ripped out, which was equally distressing both to us as residents and of course to the wildlife who called these trees “home” The whole area has been quite literally covered in concrete and there are now 105 “dwellings” on the site :o Naturally, these are mostly flats ~ ooops, sorry, luxury apartments ~ which if the rest of this town is anything to go by will be buy-to-let, so not even helping local folk to get onto the property ladder

So, my Beloved and I took the decision to have one more attempt at getting permission to have the kerb dropped, since the Prince and Princess are both having driving lessons. The other factor, of course, has been the problems I am having with my back. I am painfully aware that I will not be able to look after the garden properly and my poor Beloved simply doesn’t have the time ~ nor the interest ~ to take it over.

However, we did not want to simply have a sterile desert of block paving out there so at the weekend, my Beloved dug out many of the shrubs which are now in large pots and tubs in the back garden ~ which looks like a cross between a plant nursery and Steptoe’s yard 8O We will be having a strip of garden between us and our neighbours for two reasons; firstly because we are concerned about water run-off and secondly because we want to try to encourage the wildlife back. Hopefully the shrubs we have saved will be kind enough not to give up the will to live so that we can put them back out there and we will also be putting back the bird feeders :)

If I can just remember to charge up my camera batteries  I will take some before-and-after photos.

Prayer for World Peace…

Father, Mother, God,
Thank you for your presence
during the hard and mean days.
For then we have you to lean upon.
Thank you for your presence
during the bright and sunny days,
for then we can share that which we have
with those who have less.
And thank you for your presence
during the Holy Days, for then we are able
to celebrate you and our families
and our friends.
For those who have no voice,
we ask you to speak.
For those who feel unworthy,
we ask you to pour your love out
in waterfalls of tenderness.
For those who live in pain,
we ask you to bathe them
in the river of your healing.
For those who are lonely, we ask
you to keep them company.
For those who are depressed,
we ask you to shower upon them
the light of hope.
Dear Creator, You, the borderless
sea of substance, we ask you to give to all the
world that which we need most—Peace.
